At times in our lives we encounter stressful situations or become anxious or depressed. These can often come as a surprise, or perhaps with no obvious cause, leading us to feel confused, stuck, isolated and overwhelmed.
Seeking help in these circumstances can be a daunting process, particularly as this may involve events, emotions and parts of our internal world that are difficult to face up to.
Turning to therapy can be in response to anything from traumatic events such as bereavement, relationship breakdown or job loss, to deeper, more complex issues stemming from our early life and from our closest relationships. Whatever the source, the negative impact on our daily lives can quickly become a problem.

Outside of my private practice, I volunteer at the mental health charity Mind In Barnet, and for three years was an Associate Student Counsellor at London Metropolitan University. I also do short-term work with EAPs.
