@jb_counselling
Thank you for visiting my website.
Based in a quiet and comfortable room near Hadley Green in High Barnet, I am a fully-qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, and a registered member of both the BPC and the BACP, whose ethical guidelines I firmly uphold in my work.
At some point in our lives, we are likely to encounter stressful situations that may cause us to become anxious or depressed.
Or perhaps we may experience periods of low mood or depression with no obvious logical cause, leading us to feel confused, stuck, isolated and often overwhelmed.
Seeking help in these circumstances can be a daunting process, particularly as this may involve events, emotions and parts of our internal world that are difficult to face up to.
Turning to therapy can be in response to anything from traumatic events such as bereavement, relationship breakdown or job loss, to deeper, more complex issues stemming from early life and from our closest relationships.
I see therapy as valuable, unique, enriching and confidential. A relationship in which you and I can unpack together what is proving too difficult to be tackled alone.
As well as running my private practice, I am a member of the Music Industry Therapist Collective and work with Music Support, both of whom provide therapy and mental health guidance across all areas of the music industry.
I worked at the mental health charity Mind In Barnet, and for three years was an Associate Student Counsellor at London Metropolitan University.
I also do extensive short-term work with EAPs (Employee AssistanceProgrammes).
John Bassett Reg.MBACP, BPC.
